Tractor was overhauled in 2020, and has not ran since. 

This engine was built sometime between 1906 and 1914.  It is a "hit and miss" type engine, using an ignitor and a 6 bolt dry battery for spark.   It can be started by hand or with a detonator, screwed into the side of the cylinder head, using a wood match and hammer.  The history of the engine is lost in antiquity, located by Gary at the Soo in 1977.  At the Sault St. Marie iron and metal works.  It could have been used for application such as saw mills, factories, water works, on the farm. etc. Fairbanks Morse Built stationary and portable engine from 1 to 500 HP.

This engine was built sometime between 1913 & 1916, and is of the "hot-head" design, operating on the high pressure principle, fuel injected under pressure. The heat of the combustion chamber together with that from the compression of the air, ignites the oil which burns, creating pressure that drives the piston.  Will operate on crude oil, fuel oil, gas oil, "solar" oil, stove oil, engine distillate and kerosene.  It has no carburetor, mixer, timer, spark plug or magneto.  It can be started by hand or with a special starting arrangement.  This engine was located by Gary Beaver Island in 1979, found on the beach half buried in sand.  It was used to power a dynamo producing electricity for the lighthouse before the advent of electric power on the island.  It was then relegated for a time to power a saw mill .
